On September 1, the province of Alberta documented 1,315 new COVID-19 cases in the region, which brings its total number of active cases to 12,290 individuals.
According to a report from Alberta health officials, the province also recorded 983 new variant cases. The number of active variant cases in the area has already reached 9,901 as of Wednesday.
Four hundred sixty-five of the infected individuals are now under hospital care, 107 of whom are being treated in the intensive care unit. Moreover, there are eight new fatalities linked to COVID-19 in Alberta, raising the province’s death rate to 2,383.
In addition, 254,245 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been tallied in the region since the start of the pandemic, where 239,572 already recovered. So far, 5,566,535 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have already been rolled out in Alberta as of August 31.
