The University of Toronto is Still Considered One of The Best Post-Secondary Schools in The World.

The University of Toronto was listed yet again as one of the best academic institutions in the world. It has earned a spot in the Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings for three years straight now.

According to the Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings 2022, the U of T took the top 18th spot worldwide while ranking first in Canada. The public research university has bested more than 1,500 post-secondary schools here in the country and abroad.

Meric Gertler, University of Toronto’s president, said in a statement that their “consistently strong performance in these and other global rankings” reflects their ongoing commitment to excellence in research and teaching across a wide array of disciplines.

Founded by royal charter in 1827, the U of T has evolved through the years as a global leader in research, teaching, and innovation. Besides having secured more than $1.5 billion in investment and created more than 500 start-up companies over the past decade, the academic institution also ranks among the top university-managed business incubators globally.

There are 13 key indicators that the Times Higher Education has on its checklist when ranking post-secondary schools worldwide. These are primarily composed of teaching, citation, and research. In addition, the number of international students enrolling in their programs is also a vital factor in the rankings. Moreover, the University of British Columbia snagged the 37th spot, while the University of Oxford in Britain was heralded as the top post-secondary school in the world.
