The upcoming game between the Edmonton Elks and the Toronto Argonauts at the BMO Field has been postponed due to some Elks players testing positive for COVID-19.
The postponement was announced by the Canadian Football League (CFL) after it was found that some players of the Elks turned out to be COVID-19 positive. The league stressed that the cancellation aims to protect the players, coaches, staff, and, most importantly, the fans who will be potentially exposed to the virus.
Besides the game’s postponement, the CFL added that the Edmonton Elks’ players, coaches, and supporting staff are already under isolation. The team is also restricted from traveling and conducting practice sessions until they can obtain a certification from public health officials and the CFL’s chief medical officers.
The Edmonton Elks recently scored a 23-16 victory against the BC Lions last Thursday in Vancouver. The Elks’ next game is slated on September 6, Labour Day, at the Commonwealth Stadium against the Calgary Stampeders.
