Will Ferrell Has Something Funny to Say About the Coach of the Vancouver Whitecaps

During the match between the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) on Tuesday night, comedian Will Ferrell made a special appearance and even threw in a funny quip about the Canadian team’s coach Vanni Sartini.

After complimenting the overall improvement of the Whitecaps in his colour commentary, the funny man related that Sartini closely resembled a famous comedy icon. “Vancouver, though, much improved, right?” Ferrell pointed out. “But I didn’t realize they had Rowan Atkinson, Mr. Bean as their head coach.”

The Italian Whitecaps coach took Ferrell’s comment with a giggle and even posted that he liked it on social media. Apart from sharing that Ferrell is one of his favorite actors, the 44-year old charismatic coach also related that being compared to Mr. Bean was “one of the true highlights” of his life.

Interestingly, the Vancouver Whitecaps is a game away from a spot in the playoffs, with Sartini overseeing the team. The team had held a solid 7-2-4 standing since August 27 when Sartini took over the reins from the former head coach, Marc Dos Santos. Besides being named the team’s head coach, Sartini also holds the title of director of methodology for the Whitecaps FC Academy.

Moreover, Ferrell is the co-owner of the LAFC. The match between the Whitecaps and the LAFC ended in a draw with a score of 1-1.
