Ontario Liberal candidate Chris Bittle’s car had a makeover for the worse last weekend when he woke up and discovered that the word “FU Liberals” was spray-painted at the back of his vehicle.
The St. Catharines politician and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change took to social media on Sunday to inform the public of his car’s defacement. Bittle related that the incident occurred late Saturday evening when he and his family were already in bed.
He also believed that the defacement was an attempt to intimidate him and his ongoing campaign. “I am disheartened to see this, but I know this isn’t who we are as a community,” Bittle stressed in his tweet.
The Ontario Liberal was first elected in 2015 and served as Deputy House Leader in the House of Commons and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transportation. His platform is also aimed at speaking out against “intolerance, racism, and bigotry.”
In his tweet, Bittle fired back at the person responsible for the vandalizing of his car. “Whoever this individual is, I have a message back: I will not be intimidated, and I will continue to fight for St. Catharines.”
