Many cities in Japan have recently reported contaminants present in the bottles of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. These contaminants are reported as “white-colored” and are floating inside the bottles. The Pfizer vaccines that have been seen to contain contaminants were traced to come from Lot FF5357.
First reported by Kamakura in the Kanagawa prefecture, COVID-19 vaccine bottles with impurities were also found in the neighboring cities of Sakai and Sagamihara in the Osaka prefecture. In addition, the latter town announced that the “white-colored” contaminants were observed in three different vaccination sites last week.
The said cities have shared that they will ask for analysis from Pfizer on the condition of the vaccines with impurities. They will also inquire if these are still safe to use.
Just last month, several vials of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine displayed floating black particles inside their bottles. This led the Japanese Ministry of Health to pull out 1.6 million doses of the same.
